When Should You Replace Your Tyres?
Tyres are the only thing between your vehicle and the road. Here are the four key indicators that it's time to come in for a replacement.
Low Tread
Australian legal minimum tread depth is 1.5 mm. Anything below 3 mm significantly increases wet-weather stopping distance. We recommend replacing at 3 mm for safety, especially in Sydney's wetter months.
Uneven Wear
Shoulder wear, centre wear or feathering indicate alignment, inflation or suspension issues. If your tyres are wearing unevenly, get them inspected before you replace — the new set will face the same fate otherwise.
Cracking or Age
Rubber degrades over time regardless of tread depth. Most manufacturers recommend replacing tyres every 5–7 years. Look for sidewall cracks, bulges or perishing — these are immediate replacement indicators.
Punctures & Damage
Not all punctures are repairable. Sidewall damage, gashes, or punctures near the shoulder mean a new tyre. Don't risk a repair that could fail at speed — get it assessed by a professional.
