Things Customers Often Ask

How do I book a service?

The fastest way to book is through WhatsApp — click any 'Book a Service' button on this site and you'll be taken straight to a pre-filled WhatsApp chat with our workshop. Send your vehicle make, model, year, and a short description of what you need, and we'll confirm a slot in minutes — we're open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You can also call us directly on +61 482 861 736 any time, or use the contact form on our Contact page.

Does logbook servicing at G&K Mechanical void my new-car warranty?

No. Under the Australian Consumer Law and ACCC guidelines, you are free to have your logbook servicing performed by any qualified independent repairer — including G&K Mechanical — without affecting your new-car warranty. The key requirements are that the service follows the manufacturer's specified schedule and procedures, uses genuine or quality equivalent parts, and is carried out by a qualified technician. We stamp and sign your logbook, use the correct fluids and filters for your specific vehicle, and document every step — so your warranty stays intact and you typically save 30–50% off dealer pricing.

Do you work on all makes and models?

Yes. We work on every make and model of passenger car, SUV, 4x4, light commercial ute and van, and light truck up to 4.5t GVM. That includes Japanese (Toyota, Mazda, Nissan, Honda, Subaru, Mitsubishi), Korean (Hyundai, Kia), European (VW, Audi, BMW, Mercedes, Peugeot, Renault), US (Ford, Holden, Jeep) and Australian (Ford, Holden) vehicles. Our diagnostic equipment and technician training covers the lot — there's no vehicle we'd turn away.

Do you offer fleet servicing?

Absolutely. We look after fleet customers ranging from single-vehicle sole traders to businesses with multiple vehicles on the road. Fleet customers get scheduled servicing reminders, consolidated monthly invoicing, priority booking, preferred pricing, and detailed condition reports at every service so you can budget for upcoming repairs before they become downtime. Message us on WhatsApp to discuss a fleet arrangement tailored to your operation.

What parts do you use — genuine or aftermarket?

We use a mix of genuine (OEM) and quality aftermarket parts depending on the application, your preference and your budget. For logbook servicing and warranty-critical components we use genuine or manufacturer-spec equivalent parts. For general repairs where an aftermarket equivalent is equal quality at a better price, we'll suggest that option and explain the difference. You always make the final call — we provide the information, you choose.

How long does a typical service take?

A standard logbook service on most passenger vehicles takes between 1.5 and 3 hours depending on the scheduled items (minor vs major service). If additional repairs are needed, we'll quote them separately and won't proceed without your approval. For customers who need to wait, we can usually accommodate same-day drop-off — just let us know when you book and we'll arrange a slot that suits your day.

Do you do NSW pink slips (e-Safety checks)?

Yes — we are an authorised NSW e-Safety inspection station. If your vehicle is over five years old, you'll need an e-Safety check (pink slip) each year before you can renew your registration. We carry out the inspection, lodge the result electronically with Roads & Maritime, and provide you with the report. Most e-Safety checks take around 30 minutes — book ahead to avoid waiting.

Can you supply and fit tyres?

Yes. We supply branded tyres across budget, mid-range and premium tiers and fit them on-site with balancing, new valves, disposal of your old tyres and torque-checked wheel nuts included. The fastest way to get a quote is to WhatsApp us your tyre size (it'll look something like 225/45 R17 on the sidewall) along with your vehicle make and model. We'll send back a written quote with two or three options usually within business hours.

My check engine light is on. What should I do?

A check engine light can indicate something as minor as a loose fuel cap or as serious as a major emissions or engine management fault. The only way to know is to have the diagnostic codes read with a proper OBD2 scanner and the live sensor data interpreted by an experienced technician. Driving for extended periods with a check engine light on risks more serious (and more expensive) damage. Book it in for a diagnostic and we'll pinpoint the actual cause — not just the symptom.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept cash, EFTPOS, Visa, Mastercard and Amex, plus direct bank transfer for fleet and account customers. Payment is due on collection of your vehicle unless we've agreed an account arrangement in advance. All invoices include GST and itemise parts and labour so you can see exactly what you're paying for.
